"People treat them the way you let them treat you."
I have a Masters Degree in Counseling and Psychotherapy from Notre Dame College, and a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, a National Certified Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor.
I have been in the Mental Health field since 1985. During this time, I have worked with all different populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. I have education, training, and experience with individual, couple, and family therapy.
My expertise includes working with people experiencing depression, anxiety, anger management, struggles with life changes, chronic mental illness, alcohol and substance abuse, ACOA issues, and PTSD. In particular, a significant amount of my research includes treating children and adults who have gone through traumatic experiences throughout their lives. I have extensive experience in working with veterans experiencing PTSD. I, myself, am a veteran.
Even though I have education, training, and experience in several different counseling techniques, I have particular expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing.
