I earned a double Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Sociology and a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am licensed by the State of Louisiana Board of Examiners as a Licensed Professional Counselor and as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

I have experience working with all age ranges and many socioeconomic backgrounds.  I have worked in many settings including private practice, in-home therapy, group counseling, as well as in-patient facilities.  I have experience with a wide variety of symptoms and situations including feeling depressed, relationship difficulties, mood swings, anxiety, trauma, health issues, family stress, and general life adjustment. I use many different styles of treatment with my clients, depending on personal needs and efficacy.
I am a Solution-Focused counselor who believes that people are doing the best they can with what they have; therefore, the goal of therapy is to provide clients with ways to emphasize their resources to be able to find solutions to their difficult situations.
I am a military wife and we have recently adopted a daughter.  I have a new passion for the world of adoption and have become a home study provider.  I have also started counseling birth families and adoptive families at all stages of the process of adoption.  I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, and travel.

Crystal Boyd, LPC-S

With over a decade of experience with working with families, I have the skills needed to address concerns ranging from children's behavior and parenting, to marital relationships.

I am dedicated to working with clients to maximize change and increase overall life satisfaction using a short-term mindset. I believe that everyone has hurdles in life, but we all possess the potential for fulfillment and happiness. Through structured treatment planning with clients, I work on a direction that is both beneficial and mutually agreed upon. I am also a Board Approved Supervisor with the Louisiana LPC Board.

After graduating in 2007 with my MA in MFT from ULM, I worked for 11 years as a clinician and supervisor. I attended Louisiana Tech University for my undergraduate degree, and fell in love with Northeast Louisiana, choosing to stay and raise my family here in the Delta.
I love meeting new people, hearing their stories, learning their culture and traditions, and becoming a part of their journey for change. In the past 11 years, my clients have taught me more about life than I could have imagined and I always look forward to meeting the next person I am going to work with.

I would love to meet you and help any way I can so call the office at (318) 737-7201 or e-mail me at!

        John Brooks, PLPC, PLMFT

After a challenging and rewarding career as a Paramedic and an RN, I changed gears to incorporate a more holistic approach to healing both mind and body. My background in the medical field has given me opportunities to work with professionals who may be experiencing career-related issues such as addiction, licensing difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression, or PTSD.

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from The University of Louisiana at Monroe, I received approval by the State of Louisiana Board of Examiners as a Provisional LPC and a Provisional LMFT.

My experiences include working with individuals, couples, families, and children. I have worked with clients who are involved in the criminal justice system, such as drug court and probation. These clients have unique needs, and we can work together to navigate the court system in order to achieve a positive outcome. I have experience in addiction counseling and believe in utilizing a systemic approach in order to assist families with healing from the disease of addiction.

My clients are engaged in a structural/strategic approach to therapy where both therapist and client work together to address issues and solve problems with unique solutions tailored to fit the client’s strengths. My worldview is that we are all part of larger systems which consist of our families, friends, co-workers, and the people we surround ourselves with every day. When we work to improve those relationships, and realign the structure of our interactions with the people around us, we then see positive results.

My wife and I are both from Monroe, and we have a 2-year-old daughter and a 20-year-old son. We both work as advocates for mental health, and we believe in empowering people to improve their communities.

If you'd like more information about setting up an appointment with me, please e-mail me at or call our office at (318) 737-7201.
